lyrics: To sit in solemn silence in a dull, dark, dock, In a pestilential prison, with a life-long lock, Awaiting the sensation of a short, sharp, shock, From a cheap and chippy chopper on a big black block! (from “The Mikado” by Gilbert and Sullivan, 1885)

about

If there’s anything I record, it is dissonance and with each recording, I get deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole. Each recording, though, has their own blend of melodies to create a congruence and coherence. The more I listen to found sounds, the more I look for sounds which really do get along together well. For this recording, I delved into the music of a vast array of instruments and, of course, the dissonant sounds that blend well with them.

Again, as with the previous recordings, I thank Freesound for their endless array of sounds, from Mexican minstrels playing at a carnival to mud volcanoies on the Salton Sea and seagulls at some port in Russia, Midway Island, or the UK, among many others. And I also like to thank Carmello Pampalonnio and makenoisemusic for the earth-based recordings that is based in their research.

**NOTE**: IN ORDER TO SEE ALL OF THE ARTWORK ON THE SITE, please click on each song’s title (on this page) to be taken to a separate page to see the artwork for that song (as well as the liner notes). When you click on the play button on the front page at the top of the page, it simply cycles through the music without moving separately to each page, thereby missing all of the artwork. These recordings are all about both the music as well as the artwork!

about

Versatyle Villain Nashville, Tennessee

Inspired by experimental music of the 1930s & 1940s, I am a composer who gets your juices flowing: I splice, chop, flip, stretch, slow down, and speed up music in "Soundtracks for Unknown Films and Shorts". Here, you may find a melange of mellow ambience through a space-wild, spine-tingling galactic fantasy. ... more
